The London Stock market opened lower on Friday following drastic fall from British Energy shares.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index dropped 29.80 points, or 0.55 percent, at 5,382.10 by 8:50 British summer time.
Top the falling league was the British Energy Group whose shares lost 5.9 percent after news of a falling-apart takeover bid from France's EDF.
British Airways also shed 1.7 percent following a sharp fall in first-quarter profits due to rising fuel prices.
Kingfisher was the big gainer, with its shares adding 3.97 percent.
