Mexican President wishes Beijing Olympics a complete success

The visiting Mexican President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa said here Friday that he appreciated China and the Beijing municipal government's huge efforts for the preparation of the Beijing Olympics Games and wished the game a complete success.
Calderon made the remarks at a press conference held here Friday. He said China and the Beijing municipal government had spent a lot in preparing for a successful Olympics and trained a group of excellent young athletes. He hoped the Chinese delegation would make breakthrough on the medal list and outdo the former Olympics.
He said Mexico will send a large contingent of athletes to attend the Beijing games, which groups many young athletes, for instance, the diving athlete Paula Espinosa and the athletes who topped the world list in such events as taekwondo and karate.
He said the Mexican athletes will fight for the victory with strong faith, and everyone of them will harvest what they deserve.
" I can't predict how many medals the Mexican delegation will gain, but I hope they can make the best in the Beijing Olympics for Mexico." He added.
Due to the domestic situation in Mexico, Calderon will not be able to attend the Beijng games, however, as a sports enthusiast, he will watch the games via TV and cheer for the Mexican athletes, according to Mexican ambassador to China Jorge Guajardo.
Mexico is expected to send a delegation of 150 athletes to participate in the Beijing Olympics, and the Mexican Olympic Committee is considering to establish a "Mexican home" in Beijing during the games for the Mexican sojourner, tourists and families of athletes and coaches, in a bid to provide convenience for them to share the happiness and passion of the games.
