S Korean president expects broader cooperation with China

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said Wednesday that he looks forward to Chinese President Hu Jintao 's visit to Seoul and expects to broader bilateral cooperation between his country and China.
At a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jie-chi, who is conducting a two-day visit to South Korea from Wednesday, Lee highly commended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics last Friday and expected that the Olympic Games will carry out very smoothly.
The success of the Beijing Olympics is not only a pride of Chinese people, but also a pride of all Asians, said Lee, who participated in the opening ceremony in Beijing on Aug. 8.

Lee said South Korea and China are in good relations and the South Korean government places great importance on the development of South Korean-Chinese ties.

The South Korean government and its people have great expectations for Hu's visit to Seoul, Lee said.

Yang expressed gratitude for South Korea's support for the Beijing Olympics, saying Hu's visit is expected to accelerate the fast-developing Sino-South Korean relations and draw a blueprint for future development of the bilateral ties with South Korea.
Following the meeting with Lee, Yang visited the South Korean Foreign Ministry and held talks with his South Korean counterpart Yu Myung-hwan.
Yang is set to leave Seoul on Thursday.
